I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United Nations of the World and to the federation for which it stands, one planet, committed to life and diversity, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. 5-24-2000

Last Sunday I found a note on my desk at SAIC from Number One telling me to begin work on the info superhighway in the Village Monday the 25th of April. Began formal detachment.
Decided to work within institution for one more year then shall leave completely.
Will perform ° once a day.

Remembered today how when very young (about 7?) recorded music took me on a sentimental journey to old memory land. Mother one day wanting to throw out this old red jukebox record player Monte and I had. I told her I wanted to keep it because it associated with a lot of old memories. I feel that she would be surprised at me saying this being so young. I can't remember how she responded. I sort of remember her thinking it funny.
My older brother Buddy passed on some records of his he was through with. Many of these became a reference upon which I based my very early identity on. Some I still cherish (Midnight In Moscow, Where Have All the Flowers Gone), some I don't like any more (Ahab the Arab). Before recorded music performed and sung music reinforced people's identities. What subtle shift in consciousness might have occurred with recording technologies?

Many years ago a crazed motorist almost ran over me at Harlem and 35th Street in Berwyn. Perhaps he did in one version of the universe. In another version of the universe everything the same but the fact that the driver stopped just short of running me over. My psyche found itself a home in the second universe or perhaps the particular universe got reconstructed. Apply this to the deathbed. A percentage chance exits for all universes? Multiworld theory implies all can exist. Perhaps a natural selection process occurs continuing the psychic activity along at death junctions (there's always a universe to pick up where the last one ended. This would mean that each naturally selected cosmos would be longer that the last. Heading for forever? Mike's universe is weird! says Mira.
6/20/94 Picked up a package from my PO box. The premiere episode of Lost in Space. From Critics' Choice Video for $19.95, $1.35 sales tax, $5.50 shipping and handling. Customer #23424575, order #93480572, date of order 6/02/94, type of payment CHECK. Location code B-08A, qty 1, item # EA VDE000104. Cover says it was made in 1965. Opening shot galaxies, dated October 12, 1997. This is the beginning. So much originated here. The dreams of space travel, the hallucinations of zero gravity, the identification with a space boy who's merit was in his brain. The saucer shape, the robot, the fly in the ointment as one Doctor Smith who ruins the perfectly planned and 30 billion dollar project for the "ENEMY", the devil. It is no accident that he is the most interesting personality aboard. The rest of the crew are also perfectly realized family robots. In the intervening episodes it's the doctor and the robot that keep the series afloat. Mira sez: This episode was also the genesis of Mike's gravitation towards bimbo-like women as manifested early on by Lost in Space women Maureen (with whom Mike also had a mother/son relationship) and Judy. This all was happening on an unconscious level. On the conscious level, Mikey liked Penny--a spunky, dark-haired girl with a button-nose. Coincidentally, Mike (as William) was having an incestuous relationship with Penny and Maureen. The robot was designed for ecological data acquisition. He is subverted by the evil doctor. The tubes in which the crew go into suspended animation. The tubes in which Numbers 2 & 48 inhabit. The tube in which no number is numbered. He did not enter. His orbit could not be contained. His number is °. The tubes freeze the crew. Doctor Smith grabs a fire extinguisher and throws it at the window to escape. It bounces off. The blob was frozen by the fire extinguisher. The prisoner escapes by means of a fire extinguisher. Leary goes into deep freeze to store the code. Backing up the hard drive. This loop suggests Revelation 8 & 9. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The June 1994 issue of 'Discover' magazine has an article 'Quantum Consciousness' by David H. Freedman. Roger Penrose outlined as saying consciousness created by quantum mechanical phenomenon in The Emperor's New Mind (1989). Brain cells not thought good for quantum mechanical antics though (normal matter masks quantum weirdness). An anesthesiologist named Stuart Hameroff later (after Penrose book) suggested the microtubule (built with tubulin proteins: each has a slot in which an electron can slide to and fro) as an area conducive to quantum weirdness and resonance! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5/24/94 Image processing notes: The class will examine reality and image processing work that relates to reality. This probably leads to an examination of unreality and altered consciousness, dreaming. Study dream books for assignments (find one's hands in a dream by Carlos Casteneda). Find your hands in the IP. 6/1/94 Picked up a copy of The Beatles first American tour on video tape. Struck by the rekindling of the effect of seeing them on the Ed Sullivan Show in it's entirety. Noted to Mira how the psyche of the nation changed from the grief of the Kennedy assassination to the joy and fun of the Beatles. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- image processing instructional supplies:

The artificial memory (film & music) business has existed for only about one hundred years. Imagine how sophisticated it might have become in the hands of extraterrestrials who could have been at it for thousands or millions of years. A few principles of the business: They must keep the product cheap so the customer hardly notices spending (karma) on it. The product should tend to create and reinforce realities that continue the purchasing (addicting), and the product should tend to justify its own continuing existence. When I hear a recorded song that brings back a memory or creates a nostalgic event it seems to be a mini mystical trance. I feel: I am a lonely human trapped in time but perceiving a small transcendence. I can again experience the world in times past. The recording business is a new phenomenon on this planet but perhaps not off it. Nostalgia does feel unworldly to me.
Now that one can buy these artificial memories as CDs and videos, one can explore the formation of one's nervous system to some extent. I like to term it an archeological dig. And the Mystic Bone has come to represent to me the Bones of God, a spiritual fossil. Not that the deity has died, but rather that the objects of our search seem traces left by the living Gods that constantly elude our grasping.
Through a child's eyes i see
On a morning TV program
A cartoon detective sitting on a A bomb
Yelling its going to explode.
I now call this the most frightening moment of my childhood.
The bomb seems egg shaped,
Suspended from the ceiling.
The detective holds on to the tension
As he sways over a pit
Near the criminal's lair
And the memory seems now as if I can call this the last and first.
"To be continued..."
In the shower i think about this childhood memory
How it fits uncannily into my emerging mythos.
The detective's name: Mr. MaGoo?
But we couldn't call the show his.
The show we called Dick Tracy
On WGN Chicago's Ray Rayner's show,
Afternoon entertainment for the slave's kids.
There i feel a mysterious connection,
The creators feel there.
The year some of us call 1962
They recreated the world for us.
We ruined the last one
Spoiling their investment.
So since they learn everything
And everyone
They recreated it
A little better than before.
They established our first soul
Made it Noble but normal
Made a deal with him.
They called him John Kennedy,
President John F. Kennedy.
They put him in a white house.
Around the house they placed the world
Made it as convincingly as possible
Made it look old
So it would all look normal
But if you look real close
You can still see the seams.
After updating their software,
They filled the earth with all of us.
They restored us from back up
And ran the program again.
